Description

Nestled in a c. 3 acre estate is "Hideaway", an exceptional coastal residence, mere kilometres from the charming village of Glandore harbour. This superior detached house boasts c. 3,550 sq ft (330 sqm) of space, complete with two sunrooms, three reception rooms, four bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Built in the 1980s and meticulously renovated in 2003.

"Hideaway" offers privacy in a secluded location, nestled behind a natural stone splayed entrance and a private drive. The residence provides breath-taking views of the coastline and ocean, making it an idyllic retreat that combines natural beauty and an unparalleled coastal aspect.

The exquisitely landscaped grounds surrounding the house offer lush, mature trees, flowering plants, and shrubs, with South and West sun terraces beckoning visitors for al fresco dining and relaxation. The remainder of the land is laid out with picturesque woodland, heather and gorse, all adding to the natural charm of this property.

Situated in one of the most majestic coastal locations in West Cork, located in close proximity to the unique harbour villages of Glandore & Union Hall, where there's an abundance of pubs and restaurants. The cathedral town of Rosscarbery, just a few miles away, offers a range of public amenities. With Cork International Airport approximately an hour's drive away, this stunning coastal property is easily accessible.

The living areas exude a warm and inviting atmosphere, with the entrance hall boasting tiled flooring and high-quality finishes throughout. The kitchen/breakfast room is tastefully designed with bespoke crafted wall and floor cabinets, granite work surfaces with splashback, a double sink, central island, gas and electric hob, and integrated appliances. The exposed stone chimney breast adds character to the space, which also benefits from a modern wood-burning stove.

The sunroom offers access to the sun terrace and exposed stone wall, and the dining room features a tiled floor, dual aspect windows, and an electric fireplace with a timber overmantel. The conservatory is artistically designed with a tiled floor, wood burning stove, French door access to the garden, radiators, and underfloor heated vents. The cloakroom, with a tiled floor, WC, and washbasin, is conveniently located on the ground floor.

The living room boasts a tiled floor with radiators, under-floor heating, and built-in bookshelves with ample space for a large screen TV and peripheral equipment. The bathroom is beautifully designed with a tiled floor, WC, washbasin, vanity unit, large Jacuzzi bath, separate shower cubicle, and a separate sauna, referred to as the wet room, conveniently located to offer close access to the outside entry doors.

The first storey is where you'll find the master bedroom with triple aspect windows, offering wonderful coastal views, and built-in wardrobes. The ensuite shower-room is fully tiled, with a WC, washbasin, vanity unit, heated towel rail, and shower cubicle. The second bedroom offers built-in wardrobes and coastal views, while the third bedroom/study offers the same as well. The fourth bedroom, also with built-in wardrobes, offers dual aspect windows with stunning coastal views.

The attached garage measures approximately 30 sqm and has double door access, ample storage space, and stairs that lead to the floored loft with a Velux window. This garage has approved change-of-use planning permission to make it into a utility room, which would then change the status of the upstairs loft space, this area of the property has potential to be converted to a self-contained apartment. The second garage, also with double door access, offers ample storage space approximately 20 sqm in size.

Outside, the property has a selection of storerooms, a greenhouse, paved and decked sun terraces, and ample parking for convenience. The property also boasts an outside wood-burning oven perfect for making pizzas, providing an ideal space for alfresco dining with friends and family. Over the last 2-3 years, several roof sections of the property have been renewed.

The property offers water by private well (300ft), which supplies a 240-gallon reserve water tank that allows the property to have a pressurized internal water system, including a relatively new water filter system (three years), a four-zoned heating system which has recently undergone major maintenance including a recently renewed oil-fired boiler and Septic tank providing sewerage disposal. Broadband connection with speeds typically up to 35-40 Mbps and to maximize the wireless coverage within the property, certain areas are covered with a direct cable access to the current router location.

"Hideaway" is the perfect retreat, providing all the comforts of modern living, in a tranquil and breath-taking coastal setting.

    Listing location

    Ireland, Co Cork
    Glandore
    Hideaway, Reenogrena
Ireland (Irish: Éire [ˈeːɾʲə] (About this soundlisten)), also known as the Republic of Ireland (Poblacht na hÉireann), is a country in north-western Europe occupying 26 of 32 counties of the island of Ireland. The capital and largest city is Dublin, which is located on the eastern side of the island. Around 40% of the country's population of 4.9 million people resides in the Greater Dublin Area. The sovereign state shares its only land border with Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom. It is otherwise surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the Celtic Sea to the south, St George's Channel to the south-east, and the Irish Sea to the east. It is a unitary, parliamentary republic. The legislature, the Oireachtas, consists of a lower house, Dáil Éireann, an upper house, Seanad Éireann, and an elected President (Uachtarán) who serves as the largely ceremonial head of state, but with some important powers and duties. The head of government is the Taoiseach (Prime Minister, literally 'Chief', a title not used in English), who is elected by the Dáil and appointed by the President; the Taoiseach in turn appoints other government ministers. The state was created as the Irish Free State in 1922 as a result of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. It had the status of Dominion until 1937 when a new constitution was adopted, in which the state was named "Ireland" and effectively became a republic, with an elected non-executive president as head of state. It was officially declared a republic in 1949, following the Republic of Ireland Act 1948. Ireland became a member of the United Nations in December 1955. It joined the European Economic Community (EEC), the predecessor of the European Union, in 1973. The state had no formal relations with Northern Ireland for most of the twentieth century, but during the 1980s and 1990s the British and Irish governments worked with the Northern Ireland parties towards a resolution to "the Troubles". Since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, the Irish government and Northern Ireland Executive have co-operated on a number of policy areas under the North/South Ministerial Council created by the Agreement. Ireland ranks among the top ten wealthiest countries in the world in terms of GDP per capita, and as the tenth most prosperous country in the world according to The Legatum Prosperity Index 2015. After joining the EEC, Ireland enacted a series of liberal economic policies that resulted in rapid economic growth. The country achieved considerable prosperity between the years of 1995 and 2007, which became known as the Celtic Tiger period. This was halted by an unprecedented financial crisis that began in 2008, in conjunction with the concurrent global economic crash. However, as the Irish economy was the fastest growing in the EU in 2015, Ireland is again quickly ascending league tables comparing wealth and prosperity internationally. For example, in 2019, Ireland was ranked third most developed country in the world by the United Nations Human Development Index. It also performs well in several national performance metrics, including freedom of the press, economic freedom and civil liberties. Ireland is a member of the European Union and is a founding member of the Council of Europe and the OECD. The Irish government has followed a policy of military neutrality through non-alignment since immediately prior to World War II and the country is consequently not a member of NATO, although it is a member of Partnership for Peace and aspects of PESCO.
